So, you're looking for some gift ideas?
We've decided not to do a store registry, mostly because we'll soon be moving to a smaller place and don't really need more little things to find homes for!
Please don't feel obligated to give us anything - simply being with us to share our special day is gift enough! But if you do want to give us something, how about giving a monetary gift and specifying what you'd like it to go towards?
- Computer: Our old desktop crashed a few weeks ago and we replaced it with a brand-spankin' new machine. You could help pay off my FutureShop credit card
- Couch: the Ikea folding couch/bed we currently have is getting tired, and not so comfortable as a bed anymore! You could help us finance some new furniture
- Transportation: we've been considering making our first foray into vehicle ownership soon. That may be as simple as buying a little scooter, or we may go all out and get a little SmartCar...who knows. We may just decide to stay with our bicycle commuter lifestyle, and invest in some slick new matching bikes!
- Wedding costs/Honeymoon costs: I think we've done a pretty good job of keeping our costs to a minimum, but getting married sure ain't free! Our credit card balances have been slowly creeping up in the last few weeks, so maybe you'd like to help us pay for that fancy party room and slick decoration job...or give us a few extra bucks for our honeymoon!
So, there you go...a few ideas for you! We'll have a secure drop-box of some sort at the evening reception if you decide to bring a cash gift - just put it in an envelope and let us know what you'd like us to spend it on! If you want to do a cheque, make it out to either one of us, Barb Hinton or Nate Wood.
Of course there's lots of other things that we'd be happy with...I'm always looking to buy more music, how about a cd gift certificate? Or push me into the wonderful world of vinyl with a new record player? Barb loves to get new art swag, how about a certificate for Opus Fine Art supplies? We all need to eat, how about a Safeway gift card while you're standing in the checkout aisle? Really, anything that you'd like to give will be greatly appreciated!

All mapped out and ready to go!
Here's a little map of the Kits Point area! Just click on the icons/markers for details.
There's lots of great things to see, both within easy walking distance or short driving distance. Some parking is available on Granville Island, though it's often hard to come by on the weekends! It gets better after 7 pm, when the market closes.

Shake Your Tail Feathers - Girl's Night Out & Guy's Night Out - Otherwise known as Stag & Stagette (or some such thing)
We are thinking of a little socializing on Friday night just before the wedding.
You are invited!
8pm - this should give the out-of-towners time to arrive and join in the festivities
Likely we will split up the night (pick your respective gender) and have a girl's night out and guy's night out. We want to start after dinner with something a bit casual, so everyone is comfortable joining in....all ages (well, maybe most ages - some may be a bit young yet), then things can be spiced up a bit more with some dancing or whatever comes up.
(p.s. We took this photo of a painting hanging at the Nairobi airport on our return trip from Uganda)

Ceremony and Reception Style
Eclectic Wedding - Anything Goes!
Fun & Funky, Sassy, Classy, Casual & Laid Back.
Ceremony -
As you know, the ceremony is on the beach and will inspire beachy summer attire - whatever that means to you. Sundresses, flowing hair, shorts - dressing up and dressing down all goes in Vancouver.
Our dress will be actually more formal and jazzed up than we expected. But hey, we are inspired by some 20's styles right now, so why not.
Reception -
The night will be a bit dressier and funkier - set in a bohemian eclectic lounge. Again, anything goes.
And of course get your dancing shoes on!

On the west side of the Burrard Bridge, turn North onto Cypress St. from Cornwall. Cypress St. ends at the beach at Kits Point at the totem pole. Just to the left of the totem pole are stairs that go down to the sand.(Be careful on the stairs) Walk towards the water about 100 ft & voila.
Reception - Cabaret Directions -
Granville Island is located under the southwest side of the Granville bridge. It is a 5 minute cab ride from the ceremony location. There is a walking path along the water from the ceremony location to granville island - it would take about 1/2 hour in fancy shoes.
